Nestled within 59 wooded acres that are home to natural wetlands, nature trails, rope courses and gardens in southwest Portland, Oregon Episcopal School is a college-preparatory, independent, pre-K to grade 12 day school with a grade 9-12 boarding program, offering an outstanding educational experience.
OES Curriculum
The OES curriculum is rooted in inquiry and exploration with students engaging deeply to absorb information and take an active, empowered role in the advancement of their education. Hands-on, discussion-based, project-oriented learning happens inside and outside of the classroom, and each discovery leads to the next, driven primarily by the curiosity of OES students.
With an average enrollment of 870 students, OES has an average class size of 16, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 7:1. So, everyone is known and appreciated as an individual.
Leadership
Learning and leadership opportunities abound in academics, music, art, world languages, and athletics, and the students can pursue the subjects that intrigue them. Unique among the school’s offerings is an international and domestic boarding program averaging 60 students who add cultural richness and diverse perspectives to the entire community.
Gathering at OES is a lived expression of our supportive community and how much we respect each other’s similarities and differences. We intentionally create time to regularly gather and reflect as part of educating toward a larger purpose: inclusion and respect, understanding and compassion. service and social justice, and meaning and commitment beyond oneself.
“I think OES is the best school in the United States. The people here are so kind and there are so many opportunities, whatever your passions and interests. I’ve already had more experiences here in two years than I would have had in four years at another school because there is so much offered here. If you’re up for adventure and learning, I think OES is the perfect place” – Rising junior, Mimi
