Portland Jewish Academy (PJA) is an independent Jewish Community Day School, that welcomes students of all backgrounds while emphasizing Jewish values, inquiry-based learning, and community service. Serving infants through 8th grade, PJA is fully accredited by NWAIS and provides a dynamic, project-oriented curriculum that integrates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), small class sizes, and specialized instruction in the arts. With a commitment to academic excellence, creativity, and personal growth, PJA fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and a lifelong love of learning.

Founded in 1961, PJA is located on the Schnitzer Family Campus, adjacent to the Mittleman Jewish Community Center (MJCC). This unique partnership gives students access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a gymnasium, indoor Sportplex, and a variety of afterschool programs. The school also provides aftercare services on campus and bus transportation to Northeast and Southeast Portland, ensuring accessibility for families across the city.

Through its holistic, values-driven education, Portland Jewish Academy nurtures intellectual curiosity, cultural awareness, and social responsibility. Students engage in service-learning projects and leadership opportunities, reinforcing Jewish traditions and ethical principles while preparing them for future academic and personal success. With small class sizes, individualized attention, and a commitment to community engagement, PJA remains a leading choice for families seeking a well-rounded, values-based education in Portland.
