In addition to the sprawling suburban areas, tall condominium structures were built in Vancouver in the early 2000’s. As a result more people where drawn to the city’s downtown area. Likewise, the city saw a revitalization of the local art scene giving birth to the Vancouver Arts District. Downtown Vancouver is lined with historic and modern buildings and decorated with public art. Similar to Portland’s downtown area, downtown Vancouver is home to popular breweries, vintage boutiques and coffee shops, all within walking distance.
